Soccer
Circle Player Development Tracks:
Achievement Track: Ages 7-10
Education: Parents of this age group are provided an elementary level of
education on the sport of soccer and in particular on youth soccer. They will
learn about intramural and travel team programs and the differences between
them. Parents are also provided resources for learning more about the game
itself, including links to books, videos and online resources covering a variety
of topics including rules, how to play the game, training options, coaching,
parental support and behavior, sportsmanship, and more.
Guidance Planning: Emphasis is on individual skills development and
development of a passion for the game. It can often be frustrating for younger
players to master skills they are taught (dribbling, juggling, passing,
shooting, defending, goalkeeping, etc.) In order for players to be successful
and really enjoy playing…it is important for players to receive a) proper
instruction and b) encouragement from parents and coaches.
Accordingly, Soccer Circle will provide specific training recommendations for
players and parents to follow. These recommendations will include fun exercises
and drills, which can be performed by the player alone and / or with other
players or parents, etc. In
addition, to help players track their performance and progress, and provide
additional motivation, Soccer Circle recommends the use of specific achievement
programs including the US Soccer Skills Kit and the President’s Council on
Physical Fitness awards programs. Parents are also provided with information on
how to encourage their children to complete these programs, as well as chart
progress.
Maintenance: Using achievement and recognition programs, parents and
players will be able to record and chart their progress in each specific skill
area. Soccer Circle will forward newsletters to all members in the Achievement
Track providing them with additional information and motivation for players
to use to achieve their goals! Online forums and discussion boards will also be
available for sharing of ideas among members. Soccer Circle Guidance counselors
are also available to be contacted when necessary.
